At KWAL, we are conscious about climate change and its impacts on our business and the call by UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to play a role amongst other stakeholders to limit temperatures to within 1.5°C.
Guided by HEINEKEN’s Brew a Better World Strategy that is aligned with the latest climate science, KWAL’s ambition is to actively contribute to HEINEKEN’s effort to reach net zero carbon by 2040. KWAL is actively reporting its progress against targets and adjusting where necessary such as efficient use of energy and water resources, while exploring ways to be more innovative in areas such as waste management, packaging and embedding circularity principles into the business.
Our ENVIRONMENTAL PILLAR expresses our ambition to drive a Path to Net Zero. Maximise Circularity under environment pillar entails our ambition to contribute to circular economy. Towards healthy watersheds & nature component under environment pillar is our ambition to focus on efficient use of water resources as well as explore opportunities to create healthier watersheds.
We are actively reporting against targets aimed at reducing our Net Zero Carbon Emission on Production (Scope 1 & 2) and Scope 3. We are actively seeking means to optimize our transport and accelerate transition to partly using Renewable Energy at our production site. We are keen to drive a realization of zero waste to landfill as well as embed circularity principles in our operations. On towards healthy watersheds, we challenge ourselves on how best we improve our water use, stewardship and efficiency including wastewater treatment at our production units.
