Climate change and nature loss impacts KWAL business. Our Craft a Better World Strategy proactively focusses on mitigation and adaptation to enhance resilience, safeguard our business operations and ensure long-term sustainability. Our dedication to sustainability continues to evolve to address existing and emerging challenges. We recognise that our activities have both negative and positive impacts on the environment and society. The aim of our Craft a Better World strategy is to minimise our negative impacts and risks and increase our positive impacts and opportunities. We are leaning into our biggest opportunities and challenges with our ambitions to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040, maximise the circularity of our products and processes, and prioritise the health of local watersheds.
Our ENVIRONMENTAL PILLAR expresses our commitment to drive a Path to Net Zero. Maximise Circularity under environment pillar entails our commitment to contribute to circular economy. Towards healthy watersheds & nature component under environment pillar is our commitment to focus on water efficiency, explore opportunities to create healthier watersheds by maximising water circularity i.e. recovering, reusing and recycling on-site and off-site treated wastewater for other purposes and implement projects that replenish water in the same watershed as our operation. i.e. nature-based solutions, like restoring wetlands and reforestation to repairing infrastructure.
We are deliberate about reducing our Net Zero Carbon Emission on Production (Scope 1 & 2) and Scope 3. We are actively seeking means to optimize our transport and accelerate transition to Renewable Energy at our production site. We are keen to drive a realization of zero waste to landfill as well as embed circularity principles in our operations. On towards healthy watersheds, we challenge ourselves on how best we improve our water use, stewardship and efficiency including wastewater treatment at our production units.
